November 18th 6-8:00!
The weather was howling, the rain came down in sheets and yet a fair number of hearty souls arrived at Cape Cod Beer, potluck food in hand, ready to meet new people and reconnect with those they had met before. Gotta love hearty New Englanders!
I’d like to extend a warm thanks to Cape Cod Beer for hosting our meeting last night. It’s impressive, to say the least, all the things CCB has done to keep their operation “green and clean.” It proves that a little leg-work can reap some great benefits financially for your business (remember Beth mentioned they cut their utility bill $300 after their energy audit). Todd and Beth have also leveraged their creative sides–reusing old restaurant windows in their office–to help save money and at the same time keep one less item out of our local dump. Great combo!
Finally, I also want to thank Cape Cod Fire Log (Pat, Wayne and the grill crew–who grilled in the monsoon) for grilling some fantastic, tasty chicken over their fire logs last night. CCFL is another great example of a local, creative business that has developed such a unique product. Check out their site, www.capecodfirelog.com, for more information and where you can purchase these little nuggets!
For those of you that plan ahead…November’s meeting will be on the 18th, 6:00-8:00 at The Little Beach Gallery (thelittlebeachgallery.com) in Hyannis on 539 South St. December’s meeting will be in Mashpee on December 16th, 6:00 – 8:00 at G Green Design (www.ggreendesign.com).
More details on both meetings will be posted soon!
Beth Marcus, owner of Cape Cod Beer, has graciously opened the brewery to Green Drinks for our October 28th meeting. This meeting will have a homey touch too! What’s better in the fall then beer and food? I mean we will all be hibernating soon so it’s time to fatten up! This will be a meeting/potluck dinner combined. Bring a salad, crock pot dish, desert or something you bought at the store and we will network and eat from 6-8:00 ish. Beth will be giving a tour of the brewery at 7:00 and a free tasting. It’s a great chance to make some new friends, see a local green business in full operation and eat some good food!
I hope you all had a fantastic summer and are now ready to get your networking, green sharing shoes on! If you are looking to build your business through referrals, and meet other green conscious people, this is the place to be! This month we will be meeting at Heritage Museum and Gardens in Sandwich. We will hear about the “green” changes they have made and a have a chance to enjoy one of the Cape’s truly beautiful natural museums. Please note we change our meeting times to 6:00!
Green Drinks Background: Meet us each month on the last Wednesday of every montth, to share fine food, drinks and conversation!
The gatherings attract several dozen people each month, including environmentally-interested people from all walks of life, basically anyone interested professionally or personally in things green. Folks hail from advocacy-oriented and academia, green businesses, and government, and they come from all over Cape Cod and Plymouth. Through this network, people exchange information and ideas, develop professional and personal friendships, find jobs, develop synergies, help with others’ projects, become more involved through community volunteering, and have lots of fun!
We have our gatherings at a different venue each month. Occasionally there is a featured speaker but usually it’s just networking in a casual way. Every month there are always lots of new faces so stop by and just introduce yourself! People come and go between 6-8 pm, although some stay much later.
PLEASE BRING A FRIEND AND HELP US BUILD THIS GROUP THIS YEAR!
Thanks to all that attended the Wednesday night get together at The Wine List. Our next meeting will not be until Sept. where we will be meeting at the Hertiage Museum and Gardens in Sandwich. Have a great summer all!
This month’s networking meeting will be at The Wine List in Hyannis. Our focus: drinking green. You will be greeted at the door with a delicious glass of organic wine and tasty nibbles to eat, then get out there and mingle! At 6:30 Tracy Anderson, one of the Wine List’s owners, will conduct a 15 minute organic wine class, and tasting of 4-5 wines. The Wine List is extending, to all Green Drink members that attend, a discount on wine purchases that night too!
The cost for this is $20.00 at the door, per person. I encourage you all to bring a friend and kick the summer off with us.
This will be our last Green Drinks meeting until our September get-together at Heritage Museum and Gardens. Our meeting in October will be at Cape Cod Beer and November at “G” Green Design in Mashpee.
Good Morning All!
Thanks to Dianne for coming to speak to the group about Edible Cape Cod lasst night. I hope to see everyone at the opening of the Mid-Cape Farmers Market, 232 Main Street, in Hyannis Wednesdays: 8:00 AM-12:00 PM or the CLASH event this coming September!
Check out this link for all of the farmers markets on Cape:

I also would like a show of hands for those that think that we should take July AND August off for these meetings. We are not currently having a July meeting and after last nights attendance I am curious if many think that taking the summer off is a good idea? Let me know your thoughts, lcatonnef@aol.com.
June’s event should be a BLAST! Organic wine tasting and class at The Wine List. More info and an Evite will come next week.
Thanks to all and keep it green!

Hi All! The kids and I are trying to raise at least $300 for Audubon for the 2009 Bird-a-thon. We will be scouting out birds on the Cape for two days and documenting species as citizen scientists. We could use your help. We have contributed $25.00 already and have raised a total of $125. Even $5.00 helps! Just click on the link below and you can safely donate any amount. We appreciate your help and encourage you to go visit your local Audubon site soon!
A place and group for all of us on the Cape to come together to shares ideas about being kinder to our environment, eating locally, being greener and living smarter!
The spirit of Green Drinks is that anyone can come, and this makes for interesting interactions. Come along and you’ll be made welcome. Just say, Are you green? and we will look after you and introduce you to whoever is there. It’s a great way of catching up with people you know and also for making new contacts. Everyone invites someone else along, so there’s always a different crowd, making Green Drinks an organic, self-organizing network. These events are very simple and unstructured, but many people have found employment, made friends, developed new ideas, done deals and had moments of serendipity.
